Writing Issues but Lots of Ideas

So, due to my mental health taking priority in my personal life, I have been falling very, very behind in my writing progress. It's been months since I've managed to write *anything* and I'm a little disappointed in myself for that. However, I really need to take care of myself right now, and the writing will resume when I am feeling healthier.

The strange thing is that I am constantly getting ideas for new stories! It kind of makes the self-disappointment grow since I can't write anything currently, but at least I do know that the imagination is still firing and that creativity - even to a small degree - has not been squashed by these mental health hurdles with which I'm struggling.

Hopefully, the readers will still be interested in my stories when I return. Until then, wish me good health and good luck!

I've totally forgot to announce the last update to my fic The Prince and the Servant. Chapter 13 - The Seeds of Truth is live!

I wrote it about a month ago, and just forgot to mention it here. Whoops! Either way, check it out.

Read it on Ao3 or the K/S Archive. Enjoy!

Still slowly but surely working on the next chapter, but it's...taking far longer than I expected it would. (Actually, it is probably because I got sucked back into Star Wars hell recently! That is an anecdote for another time, though. I will not abandon THIS fic, not when I am this close to finishing it!)

Update - The Prince and the Servant - Chapter 12 - The Masque

I've finally updated my fic The Prince and the Servant. Chapter 12 - The Masque is live! It took me forever to come back to this story, but I finally did, and I managed to crank out a 13K+ chapter for this update. Check it out.

Read it on Ao3 or the K/S Archive. Enjoy!

Alan Rickman - 14 January 2016 - One Year Anniversary

14 January 2016 - It's been one year since Alan Rickman passed away. It feels like far less than that, like it only happened a few months ago. He was a beacon of encouragement and kindness, a feminist, and a devoted partner to Rima Horton for fifty years. As multi-picture co-star and friend Emma Thompson described his character in Sense & Sensibility, it also holds true for Alan himself: "[He] is the kindest and best of men."

Been Having Trouble Writing Lately...

And for that I apologize. Updates are beyond far overdue. Review replies have been neglected, which I will try to remedy immediately following this post.

Real life interfered with so much lately, and on top of that I suspect I am experiencing some negative side effects of a medication I began in January. It's left me with little to no motivation for anything and everything. Even to something as basic as laundry - I will wait to do it until I literally must (like I have no more clean socks), and even then it takes me hours to complete one load because I have no motivation to switch the load of laundry from washer to dryer. So, in short, I think I am dealing with depression as a side effect. I'm going to hopefully have this situation taken care of soon with my next visit to my doctor. I hope this will improve. Also have been dealing with a major financial situation going on, which will hopefully improve in the near future as well. Not making an excuse for my shameful lack of replying to all of the kind people who have left me a review or email or message about my stories. I love them all and always respond to them. Things have just prevented me from doing so properly and in a timely manner.

That being said, I have to try to get the muse active again, or wait for it to come back on its own time. This is frustrating for many reasons. I have had so much trouble writing lately, likely in part due to the above problems, but I have a feeling that it may also be because I may be trying to write too many things at the same time. Here are the stories I have in progress that I have not considered as 'on hiatus' right now:

Traitors' Sons
The Prince and the Servant
Untitled Submission for the Devotion Zine
and Three untitled oneshots...

Six fics going at once. It's a lot to try to juggle. I should try to just pick one and go...I know that. But inevitably the muse will be firing for any of the other fics I am not working on...until I go to work on it. So, basically, not even the muse knows what it wants to actually work on either. It is frustrating. It is stressful. And honestly, the Devotion submission may not even happen at this point. I mean...it is due in 5 days. JFC.

T'hy'la Big Bang 2016 - Fic & Art Posted

Written for the T'hy'la Big Bang 2016.

First time doing a Big Bang, so wasn’t sure what to expect. Enjoyed the process quite a bit - very exciting as the artists chose which stories they wanted to work on. Had a very pleasant time chatting with, exchanging ideas with, and getting to know my fantastic artist, blankindexcards, who also made this beautiful banner above. (Thank you!) It’s always a unique experience to collaborate with someone on a project like this. Also, huge shout out in thanks to ashayatreldai for beta-reading and cheering me on during the last hours of writing! Further thanks are acknowledged in the beginning notes of the fic. Boldly go check out the fic and blankindexcards’s fantastic work!

Summary: Spock kept the first gift he’d ever received because his mother told him it was a traditional practice.  He carried it with him because he hoped to encounter that person again.  When he did, the person that gave him that gift did not remember him, at least at first. A story of how a meeting as children affects the lives of Kirk and Spock and leads them back to each other time and time again, until they finally come together years later as T’hy’la.

Pairings: Kirk/Spock, T’Pring/Spock (childhood link).

Rating: Teen (PG/PG-13)

Word Count: ~23K

Warnings/Tags: Tarsus IV, Trauma survival, light angst, slow burn, canon compliant, slight AU.

Universe: TOS – canon compliant (with new elements)

Characters: James T. Kirk, Spock, Amanda Grayson, Sarek, George Kirk, Winona Kirk, Sam Kirk, Christopher Pike, Number One, T’Pring, T’Pau, Kevin Riley, Gary Mitchell.

This Week Writing Update

Day 7 of February! The nerves have definitely struck and the stress is full force! I missed my word count goal last week by 2,791 words, totalling only 4,209 words written. I am disappointed in myself. Here is where everything stands that I have to write.

1. T'hy'la Big Bang - Still Priority #1. Not nearly as far along as I would prefer it to be. Have put off many things in order to try to work harder on this. Still not progressing as well or on schedule as I had hoped. Quite frankly, I should have been done with this yesterday, yet I am still working on it.

2. KS Valentine - As it stands, this may not happen at all this year. This makes me a little sad, but falling behind on T'hy'la Big Bang, and the absolute necessity (personally) for completing the next one may mean eliminating this fic from the writing list.

3. Memorial Fic - This WILL be ready for posting on February 27, 2016.  I don't care if that means a few all-nighters! This one is too important for me, personally, not to finish on time.

4. Devotion zine submission - Tonight, while at work, I FINALLY came up with an idea! OMG I am so excited about that! I think it is a good one, and I hope I can pull it off before March 1.

Still on the back-burner are my WIPs: The Prince and the Servant, and Traitors' Sons. Again, I have NOT abandoned these. They will be finished.

This week, the word count goal is set for 7-8K, starting Sunday, 7 February 2016, and continuing through until Saturday, 13 February 2016. By then, T'hy'la Big Bang better be completed.

Writing To Do/Schedule

February is about to arrive and I have too much fic to write! Starting to get nervous I will finish it on time. Here is my schedule for what should be upcoming, and any other information relevant to the progress of writing these beasts!

1. T'hy'la Big Bang - This is Priority #1. Have to finish this as soon as possible and try to get it to my beta to fix my stupid mistakes or my own contradictions within this story.  Plus, my artist needs to see if anything strikes inspiration and have enough time to draw! This must get done.

2. KS Valentine - Not sure if this will even happen, honestly. We shall see. Have several ideas, but I just don't know if I can manage it with my current work schedule and finishing T'hy'la Big Bang on time.

3. Memorial Fic - This WILL be ready for posting on February 27, 2016.  This is also another contributing reason as to why KS Valentine may or may not happen.

4. Devotion zine submission - Still in brainstorming stages for this piece. The draft is due - I believe - in March.  And I am only still brainstorming.

On top of these which have deadlines, I am also still trying to finish my own WIPs: The Prince and the Servant, and Traitors' Sons (though this will not be completed for a long time yet). I have been getting questions as to whether or not I have abandoned either of these.  The answer to both is a vehement "No!" They will be finished, but the other four mentioned above have to come first solely because they have deadlines attached to them. It's madness. But I am trying my best to get things moving.

This week, the word count goal is set for 7-8K, starting Sunday, 31 January 2016, and continuing through until Saturday, 6 February 2016. By then, I am hoping to have T'hy'la Big Bang completed. If all stays on schedule, this should be doable. Thank you all for your patience.  I have not given up on any of these stories.
